When you come to Goodman Orthodontics, our entire team will make it our goal to give you the best adult orthodontic treatment in Manhattan. The initial consultation is free, and we will usually provide, not just a cost estimate, but the treatment fee at that visit. Many orthodontic offices charge upwards of $500-$1000 merely to walk in the door, only to be provided with a treatment option or cost for treatment that was not what a patient had in mind. Many of my colleagues feel that their time is valuable and offering a free initial consultation is unprofessional, but quite simply we want to help as many potential patients as possible, and since many seek more than one opinion, even modest charges for consultations might be a deterrent.
It’s unfortunate, but it’s probably no surprise – no part of the country has a greater range of orthodontic fees than New York City. At your high-end orthodontic offices, you’ll find some will charge you over $9,000-$10,000 for Invisalign and over $11,000 for braces! You’ll rarely ever see anything near that price across the country – even from the best orthodontists in the country.
On the other side of the spectrum, there are some very low fees out there. These are typically high-volume offices with many doctors on the premises or general dental offices that lure patients with very low fees, but only provide a limited number of aligners or treatments.

In our office, the average treatment fee is $6,800 for moderate crowing or spacing corrections. Cases that are more challenging or require a combination of braces and Invisalign typically are charged between $7,800 and $8,500. Surgical orthodontic treatments can exceed $9,000. For very minor treatment, $4,800 is a common treatment fee, but these cases less common because what may seem like a very minor treatment often involves more tooth movement than people think and are in fact moderate corrections.
Most orthodontic plans only cover between $1,000 and $2,000 maximum, which means that you’ll be reimbursed that amount by your insurance company. If your dental plan is a PPO and you choose to visit a participating provider, then the fee for orthodontic treatment with conventional metal braces should be reduced in accordance with the particular plan. However, they’re able to upcharge significantly for clear braces or Invisalign.
With the vast majority of dental plans, treatment with us will still entitle you to receive your full orthodontic benefit, but your fee will be our regular treatment fee as we’re not participating providers with any plan. If you seek out a participating provider, please be careful in determining an office’s entire fee, including records, retainers, appliance breakage fees, and broken appointment fees.
